About
Andrew Summey works with public companies, private firms, and select nonprofits that need to raise or keep outside money.
He has led investor relations and marketing inside public energy, run private capital-raise and investor operations, and served in nonprofit executive and board-facing roles.
The short version
For more than twenty years, Andrew Summey has helped organizations raise money and keep the people who give it. He has done that for a public company, for private firms, and for nonprofits. The settings differ. The work underneath does not: tell the truth about the mission, take care of the relationship, and build the system that makes follow-up dependable.
Inside a public oil and gas company
From 2013 to early 2026, Andrew worked inside a public international oil and gas company. He started as a marketing consultant and was promoted five times, to vice president of investor relations and marketing. He reported directly to the CEO and the president and built a seven-person investor relations and marketing team.
Andrew directed the investor relations, marketing, and capital formation strategy that supported more than $250 million in new equity and a 1,000 percent increase in the company's investor base over ten years.
A public company has rules. His work covered offering strategy, equity packages, prospectus development, SEC filings, press releases, and communication under pressure. He also built the digital side of investing: international online investor experiences, and the CRM and follow-up systems that let a small team answer thousands of people well.
Building a movement that gave
From 2007 to 2010, Andrew founded and led a national student leadership program of an international nonprofit. He grew it to more than 100 university chapters. He hired staff, recruited volunteers, worked with congressional offices, and ran national events in Washington, D.C.
Within two years it had become a leading fundraising vehicle for the organization, generating more than $10 million in new donations. He ran it on data, tracking donor and membership growth and adjusting as he learned. He also served as a regional coordinator, developing relationships and programs across the Greater Boston region, from October 2007 to October 2009.
National outreach, from nothing
Before that, from 2006 to 2008, Andrew worked at a national nonprofit. He started as a campus coordinator and became outreach director. He created and led a national outreach program, hired a team, ran programs on dozens of campuses, and generated $1.2 million in fundraising.
Fundraising strategy for nonprofits and for-profits, 2010 to 2024
From October 2010 to February 2024, Andrew worked as an independent strategic fundraising consultant. He created multi-million-dollar fundraising and growth strategies for five nonprofits and three for-profit organizations.
His mobile, web, and social campaigns increased funding by 40 to 80 percent, lifted donations by 40 percent within one year, and grew subscribers and retail customers by 30 percent. He served nine months as interim executive director of an international nonprofit, and gave other organizations fractional executive-director leadership. He built fundraising systems meant to outlast any single campaign.
Nonprofit leadership today
Since March 2023, Andrew has served as the fractional executive director of an international nonprofit that supports clinicians who work with partners affected by betrayal and trauma. The role covers the board, continuing-education compliance, digital systems, and staff coordination, and it has included a full overhaul and rebrand.
Private capital in 2026
From May to August 2026, Andrew consulted for a privately owned Texas oil and gas operator that offers accredited investors direct joint-venture interests in wells. The company says it has operated since 2009 and lists more than 700 producing wells.
Andrew led investor conversations, elections, and purchase agreements to acquire about $16 million of joint-venture interest from approximately 200 accredited investors. He also led investor relations and marketing, and built the CRM and follow-up systems that carry an investor from the first inquiry to commitment and ongoing service.
Who he works with now
Andrew takes a small number of seats at a time, in three kinds of rooms.
Public. Equity story, shareholder rhythm, and raise support for listed or going-public teams that need an investor relations desk, not another vendor.
Private. Raise narrative, investor pipeline, and meeting cadence for firms raising or servicing outside capital.
Select nonprofit. Donor story, pipeline, and board-facing cadence. Select means he would stand behind the mission.
Work starts with a 10-day diagnostic, moves to a 90-day build, and continues as a fractional seat. At day 75 both sides review whether to stay fractional or expand. Neither side is obligated.
How he decides
The test is simple: would he stand behind this raise or this mission.
This is consulting and communications. It is not broker-dealer or placement-agent work.
